Mix a little detergent into a bowl containing lukewarm water. Dip a sponge into the solution and start to rub it on the oil pastel stain. Rinse off the area with lukewarm water and repeat steps until the stain is gone. You may need to apply extra detergent depending on how stubborn the stain is.
Create a 2:1 mixture of ammonia and lukewarm water. Apply the solution to the stained area with a cloth, and use a toothbrush to gently scrub the area if needed. Rinse with lukewarm water and repeat until the stain has gone.
Find a store-bought cleaner meant for removing oil stains and follow the directions on the package. If the stain still won't budge, try using a small amount of rubbing alcohol to further break down oil.
Getting oil pastels out of a shift dress can take some effort, but if you follow steps outlined above, you'll be able to get rid of those pesky stains in no time!
