Oil pastel stains can be hard to get out of clothing, especially when they involve delicate fabrics like the sarong. But don’t despair! With right tips and tricks, it can be easy to clean them up in no time. Here are some step-by-step instructions to help you get that oil pastel stain off your sarong.
Before you can do anything else, you need to pre-treat the oil pastel stain to make sure it doesn't get ground further into fabric. One way to do this is by making a paste of baking soda and water, then applying it directly to the stain with a brush or sponge. Let baking soda sit for about 10 minutes before moving onto the next step.
Once the baking soda paste has had some time to work, it's time to launder the sarong. Fill a sink or bucket with warm water and add a few drops of laundry detergent (make sure it's suitable for the fabric). Put the sarong in the water and let it soak for 30 minutes before gently rubbing the stained area with your hands. After that, rinse the garment in cold water and let it air dry.
If the stain isn't completely gone after the laundering process, you can use a spot cleaning technique to get rid of the rest of it. Use a cloth dampened with a mixture of liquid dish soap and vinegar and rub the stained area until it has faded. Then rinse the area with cold water and let the sarong air dry.
If stain is still visible after the spot cleaning, repeat the pre-treating, laundry and spot cleaning steps until it has disappeared. Just remember to be gentle and take your time - it might take a few tries to get it right!
