Begin by soaking the stained section of the Rosepoint lace in a bowl filled with lemon juice and warm water for at least 20 minutes. This pre-soaking loosens up any residue left behind from oil pastel so that it's easier to remove.
Once the fabric has been pre-soaked, use a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub the stained area with a bit of dish soap. Make sure to use light, circular motions with the brush as you scrub, being as gentle as possible.
After scrubbing the fabric with soap, rinse the section with a fresh water-soaked sponge. Be sure not to rub too hard, as this can cause more damage to the fabric.
This step may seem counter-intuitive, but it's actually a helpful way to remove oil stains from delicate fabrics. To create your vinegar solution, mix one part white vinegar with two parts warm water. Then, dip a clean sponge into the mixture and lightly dab the stained area in a circular motion. Let the solution sit for five to 10 minutes before rinsing with fresh water.
Finally, sprinkle some Borax powder onto the stained area and let it sit for several hours or overnight. After a few hours, take a damp sponge and gently wipe away powder. Rinse with fresh water and air dry.
Oil pastel stains on Rosepoint lace fabric can be a nightmare to remove, but these methods are sure to help you restore your fabric back to its pristine condition. With careful cleaning and a bit of patience, you'll have your fabric looking good as new in no time at all!
