How to Easily Remove Oil Pastel Stains from a Polo Shirt

What You’ll Need

  • Paper towels
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Laundry detergent
  • Warm water
  • Old toothbrush

Removing Stain

  1. Blot the stained area with a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
  2. Mix one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid into two cups of warm water.
  3. Soak an old toothbrush in the soapy mixture and gently scrub the stain with the brush.
  4. Rinse the shirt off with cool water and blot dry with a clean paper towel or cloth.
  5. Pre-treat the stain with laundry detergent and let it sit for 15 minutes.
  6. Rinse the shirt again with cool water and allow it to air dry.

Preventing Future Stains

If you plan to wear a polo shirt with oil pastels, be sure to wear something over shirt for protection, like an apron or a smock. If you’re working on a large project, consider doing it somewhere other than your bed or favorite chair, just in case of any spills.
