The first step is to blot the stain. Take a folded paper towel or cloth, and press down firmly against the stain to absorb as much as possible. Do not rub the fabric, as this could spread the stain.
Next, apply a small amount of a mild dish soap to the stained area. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then rinse the area with lukewarm water.
White vinegar is a great solution for removing oil-based stains. Pour some white vinegar directly onto the stain, let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse the area with lukewarm water.
If the stain is still present after the previous steps, try applying some ammonia. Mix equal parts warm water and ammonia, and apply this mixture directly to the stain. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse the area with lukewarm water.
If the stain is still visible after the previous steps, mix up a mild detergent and water solution, and apply this directly to stain. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse the area with lukewarm water.
Finally, place the item in the washing machine and wash as normal. Check the stain before drying, and repeat the steps if necessary.
Removing oil pastel stains from Oxford fabric can be tricky, but with a few simple steps it is possible! Remember to blot the stain, apply a mild dish soap, white vinegar, ammonia, and/or detergent, and then wash the item in the washing machine.
