Oil pastel stains can quickly set into the fibers of nylon, making them difficult to remove. But don't throw away the garment yet! Here are some simple steps to help you get rid of oil pastel stains on nylon:

  • Gently scrape away as much of the dry pastel as possible with a dull knife or spoon.
  • Dampen a cloth with cold water and blot the stain. Do not rub stain, as this will damage the fabric.
  • If the stain persists, make a paste of baking soda and water and rub it on the spot with a soft brush. Rinse with cold water and repeat if necessary.
  • Mix a solution of water and a few drops of liquid dish detergent. Dip a sponge in the solution and gently rub stained area. Rinse with cold water.
  • For tougher stains, mix one tablespoon of vinegar, one teaspoon of washing powder, and two cups of warm water. Soak the stained part of the garment for thirty minutes before rinsing with cold water.
  • After removing the stain, wash the garment according to care instructions.

Taking a few extra steps to remove oil pastel stains from nylon fabrics is well worth the effort, so you can continue wearing your favorite garments. Good luck!
