The first method of removing oil pastel stains from merino wool fabric is to scrub them with soapy water. Fill a bowl with warm water and a few drops of dishwashing detergent and mix together until a thick suds form. Dip a clean cloth into the soapy mixture and start scrubbing the stained area until stain lifts. When stain is gone, rinse off the soapy mixture by dipping the cloth in some fresh water and dabbing the area. Allow the fabric to air dry afterwards.
If the stain persists after cleaning with soapy water, then you can try washing it with shampoo. Dilute a few tablespoons of shampoo in a bowl of warm water and mix until a light lather forms. Dab the stained area with the soapy mixture and scrub gently. Rinse off the shampoo mixture with some warm water and allow the fabric to air dry.
If the stain is still there after using shampoo, you can also try using rubbing alcohol. Take a clean cloth and dip it in some rubbing alcohol, then gently dab the stained area. Let the rubbing alcohol sit for a few minutes before scrubbing area. Once the stain is gone, rinse off the alcohol with some water and allow the fabric to air dry.
