The first thing to do when dealing with any kind of stain is to act quickly. This will help prevent the stain from setting in and becoming more difficult to remove. As soon as you notice an oil pastel stain on your Marcella fabric, take action to try and remove it.
Once you have reacted quickly to the stain, use a spoon or dull knife to carefully scrape away any excess material still on the surface of the fabric. Be careful not to rub fabric too much as this can cause the stain to spread.
Next, make a paste by mixing together a mild liquid detergent and some water. Apply the paste to stained area and allow it to sit for approximately 20 minutes. Then, use a damp cloth to rub at the stained area in a circular motion.
After you have rubbed at area with the detergent paste, check to see if there is any remaining residue. If there is, repeat steps 2 and 3. Once all of the residue is gone, rinse off the stained area with cold water.
Before attempting to wash the fabric, pre-treat the stained area by applying a stain remover or a mild liquid detergent directly onto the fabric. Allow the pre-treatment to sit for 10-15 minutes and then place the item in washing machine.
Once the stained area has been pre-treated, place the item of clothing in your washing machine with other similar colored items. Use correct cycle setting for your fabric type and the appropriate amount of detergent. After the cycle is complete, check to ensure that the stain is gone before drying.
