The type of product you use to clean oil pastel stains from loafers will depend on material they’re made from. For leather, you’ll need a leather detergent designed for oil-based stains; for suede, something like a suede cleaning block; and for canvas, a mild detergent or soap solution. Be sure to check the label of whatever product you’re considering before buying to make sure it’s suitable for the kind of material your loafers are made from.
You’ll want to make sure that you’re working in a well-ventilated area with good lighting and plenty of clean cloths and towels nearby. This will help you to take your time and thoroughly remove all traces of the oil pastel stain.
Using a cloth or towel, apply the cleaning product directly to the affected area of the loafers. Work product into the stain using small circular motions until the entire area is covered. Allow the product to sit for about 10 minutes, then wipe away with a damp cloth.
If stain isn’t fully removed after applying cleaning product, you may need to give it a bit more attention. To do this, mix a few drops of mild dishwashing liquid with warm water and use a damp cloth to rub mixture into the stain. Again, use small circular motions. After a few minutes, wipe away soapy water with a clean damp cloth.
Once you’ve successfully removed the oil pastel stain, be sure to dry the loafers completely before putting them away. You can either air dry them or use a towel to gently pat them dry.
