- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Cleaning cloths
- Liquid dish soap
Steps for Cleaning Oil Pastel Stains from Linen
- Mix ¼ cup of white vinegar and ¼ cup of baking soda to create a paste.
- Use a cleaning cloth to dab the paste onto stained area.
- Let the paste sit for 15 minutes before blotting it away with a clean cloth.
- Apply liquid dish soap to another cloth and gently massage the stained area.
- Continue dabbing until all of stain is gone.
- Rinse with warm water and let the linen item air dry.
Additional Tips
- If the first method does not work, mix 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap with ¼ cup of warm water. Apply to the stain and work into a lather with a damp cloth.
- If the stain has been set for a while, allow the paste to sit on fabric longer before blotting away.
- For larger items, submerge the fabric in a mixture of warm water and liquid dish soap.
- Always test a cleaner on a small, inconspicuous spot of fabric first to check for damage.
