Oil pastels are a wonderful, vibrant medium of art. But when they get onto clothes, it can get quite messy and hard to clean, especially on delicate items like Kate Spade. Luckily, it's not end of the world if you find yourself in this situation - here's how to remove oil pastel stains from fabric.

Start by gently yet quickly blotting the stained area with a dry cloth or paper towel. This will help remove any excess color and prevent further spreading.
On a separate cloth or piece of paper, apply some mineral spirits (found in most hardware stores) directly to stain. Blot and gently rub the mineral spirits into the fabric in a circular motion until you start to see color lifting off the material.
Flush and rinse the affected area with cold water, removing any remaining residue from the mineral spirits and from the colour. Be sure to check the inside of the fabric for colour as well, and to rinse thoroughly.
Wash the item as usual in a washing machine using the appropriate detergent and fabric care instructions. Let it dry naturally in a warm place. Many times, stain may have been completely removed in one wash, but if needed, repeat this process.
