Oil pastel stains can be especially stubborn, as the wax can block any stain remover from reaching fabric. The best way to remove oil pastel stains from jeans is to first freeze the stain. Place the jeans in a plastic bag in the freezer for an hour or two to harden the wax. Once the wax has hardened, break it into small pieces and gently brush it off the fabric.
Once you’ve removed as much of the wax as possible by hand, you can treat remaining stain. Start by dabbing the whole area with a damp cloth to moisten it. Then, apply a stain remover specifically designed for oil-based stains. Let the stain remover sit for several minutes before working it in with a damp cloth or a soft-bristled brush. Finally, rinse the stained area with cold water.
If the stain remains after rinsing, try repeating the process. If the stain still won't come out, you may want to try using laundry detergent and a toothbrush. Wet the stained area, then use a small amount of laundry detergent and gentle circular motions with the toothbrush to break up the wax. Rinse the area once again, then launder the jeans as usual.
With these simple steps, you'll be able to remove oil pastel stains from jeans quickly and easily. And best of all, your jeans will stay looking like new.
