Step-by-Step Guide
- Apply a laundry detergent directly onto the stain. Work it into a lather and let it sit for 10 minutes. This will help to break down the oily nature of the pastel pigment.
- Use a cloth sponge to gently scrub the area in a circular motion. Make sure to pay special attention to any deeply set pigment.
- Rinse the clothing with cold water until all the suds are gone. If there is still a trace of pigment, you can use a specialized stain remover.
- Mix equal parts white vinegar and baking soda. Apply this solution to the stained area and allow it to foam up. Gently work it in with a cloth sponge to help lift away stubborn particles.
- Rinse item of clothing again in cold water and hang to air dry. Check to make sure the stain is completely gone before throwing it in the dryer.
