What You'll Need

  • Laundry Detergent
  • Stain Remover
  • Cloth Sponges
  • White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Apply a laundry detergent directly onto the stain. Work it into a lather and let it sit for 10 minutes. This will help to break down the oily nature of the pastel pigment.
  2. Use a cloth sponge to gently scrub the area in a circular motion. Make sure to pay special attention to any deeply set pigment.
  3. Rinse the clothing with cold water until all the suds are gone. If there is still a trace of pigment, you can use a specialized stain remover.
  4. Mix equal parts white vinegar and baking soda. Apply this solution to the stained area and allow it to foam up. Gently work it in with a cloth sponge to help lift away stubborn particles.
  5. Rinse item of clothing again in cold water and hang to air dry. Check to make sure the stain is completely gone before throwing it in the dryer.
