Oil pastels are beautiful and fun to use, but it’s all too easy for one to accidently get on clothing or other fabrics. Thankfully, J Crew clothing is designed for easy washing and drying, so getting rid of that oil pastel stain is a breeze!
Time is of essence when it comes to cleaning oil pastel stains. The sooner you act, the better chance you have at completely removing the stain. As soon as you notice the stain, make sure to remove the excess with a spoon or dull knife. This will stop the stain from further penetrating into the fabric.
Once the excess oil pastel has been removed, pre-treat the stain with a heavy-duty detergent. You want to use a detergent that is designed to break down stubborn stains like grease, oil, and dirt. Make sure to rub the detergent into the fabric in a circular motion with a brush or your fingertips. Allow the detergent to set for several minutes.
Next, put your J Crew item in the washing machine with the rest of your clothes. Use the hottest water setting that is safe for your fabric and make sure to use color-safe bleach if necessary. After the wash cycle is complete, dry the item on the highest heat setting. Check the item afterwards to make sure the stain is completely gone.
Cleaning oil pastel stains from J Crew fabrics doesn't have to be a hassle. With the right detergents and time, you can eliminate those pesky stains with ease. Just follow steps above and you'll be well on your way to a stain-free wardrobe!
