Gathering the Supplies

Before tackling the stain, make sure you have the following items handy: mild detergent, a soft brush, warm water, and a white cloth.

Removing Stain

Using your soft brush, gently scrape away any excess oil pastel. Make sure not to be too rough as this could damage the crochet pattern. Place your Irish crochet piece in the sink and add one teaspoon of mild detergent to warm water. Soak the item for 10 minutes. After time is up, remove the item from the sink and empty any excess water.

Once the excess water is gone, use the white cloth to lightly dab and blot the area affected by the stain. Continuously blot until the stain is gone. Resist any urge to scrub, as this can damage the fabric.

Finishing Up

Once stain has been removed and the fabric is dry, your Irish crochet should look good as new. Make sure to store your piece properly in a dry and cool place. Regularly check your crochet pieces for any signs of damage or discoloration.
