What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Clean cloth
  • A vacuum cleaner

Step 1: Scrape Away the Excess

Gently scrape away any excess oil pastel stain using edge of a spoon or a butter knife. Make sure you don't press too hard and don't use anything sharp as it could damage the fabric.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Mix equal parts of white vinegar and baking soda to create a cleaning solution. This combination will help to break down the oil pastel and make it easier to remove from the fabric.

Step 3: Apply the Solution

Using a clean cloth, apply the solution directly to the oil pastel stain. Rub gently to work the solution into the fabric. Allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes to let the solution work.

Step 4: Rinse and Vacuum

Rinse the stained area with water and then pat it dry with a clean cloth. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any remaining residue.
