Pre-Treating an Oil Pastel Stain

To pre-treat an oil pastel stain, first dampen a clean white cloth with lukewarm water. Gently blot the stained area. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the fabric in order to prevent damage to the delicate Duchesse lace. Next, apply a small amount of mild detergent or a laundry spot-remover directly onto the stain. Let the spot remover sit for around five minutes before blotting it up with the damp cloth. Rinse the area with lukewarm water and repeat if necessary.

Using a Washing Machine to Remove Stain

If the stain is particularly stubborn or you need to treat multiple items at once, you can use a washing machine. Start by setting the cycle to cold water, as hot water can damage the delicate fabric. Use a mild detergent or a laundry spot-remover suitable for delicates, such as Woolite. For extra stain protection, add a scoop of color-safe bleach. Let the washing machine finish cycle and thenHang item to dry and inspect the results. Repeat if necessary.
