What You’ll Need:

  • White vinegar
  • Clean cloths
  • Bucket
  • Rubber gloves

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Wear rubber gloves before beginning. This will protect your skin from harsh chemicals.
  2. Mix together one part dish soap with three parts white vinegar into a bucket of lukewarm water.
  3. Dip clean cloths into the soapy mixture and wring out excess water before dabbing onto the stained area of drapery or curtain.
  4. Continue this process until stain is gone.
  5. Rinse the area with clean water and an additional clean cloth.
  6. Allow drapery or curtain to air dry.

Additional Tips

  • Always test any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area before using on a stainer area.
  • If the stain does not come out with the soap and vinegar mixture, you can try spot cleaning with a grease cutting detergent.
  • You may also use a fabric spray specially designed to remove oil pastel stains.
