If you have oil pastel stains on your wood cutting board, don't panic! There are a few solutions that should be able to help. Here are some easy steps to take to get your cutting board looking its best:
Using a butter knife or other similar utensil, carefully scrape away any visible residue from surface of the cutting board. Be sure that you are not applying too much pressure, as this could damage the cutting board.
Once you have scraped off as much of the stain as possible, dampen a soft cotton cloth with lukewarm water and gently rub the area of the stain. This should help remove any remaining residue from the surface.
If stain is still visible after steps 1 and 2, you can try using white vinegar to clean it. Dip the cotton cloth in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and lukewarm water and rub the stain gently. If all else fails, you can also use rubbing alcohol or a commercial and non-toxic cleaner to clean the cutting board.
Once you have finished removing the stain, make sure you thoroughly clean and dry the entire cutting board. Any residual moisture could warp and ruin your cutting board.
