What You'll Need:

  • Laundry detergent
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • White vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Soft cloth

Step 1: Blot up Fresh Spills

If you have a fresh stain, start by blotting it up with a soft cloth. Don't scrub or rub the stain too much, as this could cause the oil to further penetrate the cotton fibers.

Step 2: Treat with Laundry Detergent and Rubbing Alcohol

Once you've blotted up the stain, combine equal parts laundry detergent and rubbing alcohol, and apply it to stained area with a soft cloth. Gently rub the solution into the stain, then allow to set for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse

Once the solution has set, rinse stained area with cold water. If the stain is still present, repeat Steps 2 and 3.

Step 4: Treat with Vinegar and Dish Soap

If stain still persists, combine equal parts white vinegar and dish soap, and apply it to the stained area. Allow the solution to set for 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water.

Step 5: Let Air Dry

Finally, let the stained area air dry completely. Avoid using a towel, as this may cause the oil to spread further into the fabric.

Conclusion

Removing oil pastel stains from cotton twill is easy if you know the right methods and techniques. With a little patience and elbow grease, you'll have clean fabrics in no time!
