Step 1: Dip a Sponge in a Solution of Warm Water and Mild Detergent

Mix a tablespoon of a mild detergent, like Dawn or Woolite, and two cups of warm water in a bowl. Dip a sponge into the solution and wring out any excess. Gently rub the affected area with the sponge.

Step 2: Rinse With Cold Water

Rinse affected area of the cotton seersucker fabric with cold water. This will help remove the stain. Make sure all of the detergent is removed.

Step 3: Apply a Stain Remover

For tougher stains, apply a stain remover directly to affected area. Follow the instructions on the product label. Once the stain has been treated, rinse with cold water.

Step 4: Soak in a Solution of Cold Water and White Vinegar

Mix equal parts cold water and white vinegar. Allow the stained fabric to soak in the solution for 30 minutes. The vinegar will help break down stain.

Step 5: Launder

Launder the fabric according to the care instructions. Use a laundry detergent or pre-treatment cleaner, such as Zout. If the stain is still present after laundering, repeat steps 1-4 before re-washing the fabric.

And Voila!

Cleaning oil pastel stains from cotton seersucker fabric can be difficult, but it is possible. With these five easy steps, you can get that fabric looking like new again.
