The first step to removing an oil pastel stain from cotton oxford is to soak it in white vinegar for about 15 minutes. This will help break down the oil so that it can be more easily removed. Once stain has been soaked, blot it with a cloth to absorb any excess liquid.
Once stain has been blotted off, you can apply a small amount of detergent to the area. Rub the detergent into the fabric with a soft cloth or brush in a circular motion until the stain is broken up and mostly removed. Be sure not to use too much detergent as this could cause further damage to the fabric.
Once the oil pastel stain has been lifted, rinse the area with cold water to remove any residue. You may need to repeat this step if there is still some color left behind. After area has been rinsed, you can pat it dry with a cloth or allow it to air dry.
If the oil pastel stain is still visible after being rinsed, you can treat it with a stain remover. Apply the remover to the stain, then blot it off with a damp cloth. Once stain remover has done its job, rinse the area with cold water once again to remove any residue.
Once you’ve finished cleaning oil pastel stain, allow the fabric to air dry completely. Do not attempt to speed up drying process by using a tumble dryer or heat source, as this could cause stain to set and be much harder to remove.
Cleaning oil pastel stains from cotton oxford can seem like a daunting task, but with these simple steps, it can be done quickly and easily! Just remember to let the fabric air dry completely before wearing it again.
