How to Easily Remove Oil Pastel Stains From Cocktail Dresses

Instructions

  • Lift off any excess oil pastel using a paper towel or a cloth.
  • If the stain persists, apply a prewash detergent directly to the spot and rub gently.
  • Pour a bit of laundry detergent onto stain and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
  • Using a damp cloth, rub the detergent into the fabric in a circular motion.
  • Rinse the area with cold water.
  • Use a clean cloth to dab the area dry until no more moisture is present.
  • Repeat steps 2-6 if necessary.
  • Once the stain is completely gone, launder the garment according to its instructions.

Additional Tips

  • Always check care label of your clothing before attempting to treat any stain.
  • For tougher stains, you can use a stain remover spray. Follow the directions on the package.
  • Never use hot water to treat a stain, as it can set the stain permanently.
  • Be sure to test any cleaning product on an area of the garment that isn't visible to make sure it doesn't damage the fabric.
