What You'll Need
- Clean cloths or paper towels
- Dishwashing liquid
- Color-safe detergent
- Bucket of warm water
- White vinegar
- Waterproof sealant
Instructions
- Gently remove as much of the oil pastel as possible by scraping off paint with a butter knife.
- Mix together a solution of dishwashing liquid, color-safe detergent, and water in a bucket. The ratio should be 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, 1 teaspoon of color-safe detergent, and 1 quart of warm water.
- Soak a clean cloth in the soapy water, and use it to dab at the stained area. Take care not to scrub too hard, as this could spread the stain further.
- Once the majority of the stain has been lifted, rinse the area with a cloth dampened with clean water. Do not rub area too hard as this may cause more staining.
- If any stain remains, use a solution of 1 teaspoon of white vinegar and 1 quart of warm water and dab at the stained area. Ensure that the area is completely dried afterwards.
- To protect the fabric from future staining, apply a waterproof sealant to the affected area.
