1. Blot the Stain

As soon as you notice an oil pastel stain, you should blot the area with a clean cloth. This will help to absorb some of the oil and pigment before it penetrates the fabric.

2. Apply Detergent

When stain is still wet, apply a few drops of laundry detergent and rub it gently into the fabric. This will help break down the oil and loosen the pigment.

3. Rinse with Cold Water

Once you have applied detergent to stained area, rinse it with cold water until all of the soap has been washed away.

4. Soak in Stain Remover

If the stain is still visible after rinsing, you can try soaking the fabric in a solution of equal parts water and either vinegar or lemon juice for 30 minutes.

5. Scrub with Soap and Brush

After the fabric has soaked, use a soft brush to scrub the stained area with a mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse area thoroughly again.

6. Wash in Hot Water

Your blouse should then be washed in hot water with a generous amount of laundry detergent. This will ensure that any remaining oil and pigment is removed.

7. Dry the Blouse

To finish, hang or lay the blouse flat in a well-ventilated area to dry. It’s important to avoid direct sunlight, as this can cause the colors to fade.
