The first step to removing an oil pastel stain is to create a paste with baking soda and water. Mix one part baking soda with two parts water, then apply the paste directly to the stained area. Leave the paste on until it’s fully dry, or overnight if necessary. Once the paste has dried, take a damp cloth and wipe away the paste. It should take the stain with it!
If the baking soda solution doesn’t get the job done, you can try using a mixture of dish soap and vinegar. Start by mixing equal parts dish soap and white vinegar in a bowl. Dip a rag into the solution and scrub the stained area in circular motions, making sure to work solution into all of the nooks and crannies. Let the solution sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with a damp cloth. Repeat as necessary.
If those solutions didn’t quite do the trick, you can use rubbing alcohol and cotton balls to remove the stain. Start by soaking the cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and apply it to the stained area. You may need to soak multiple cotton balls depending on the size of the stain. Gently rub the cotton ball against the stained area until the oil pastel comes off, then rinse with a damp cloth. Repeat as necessary.
Removing oil pastel stains off of your appliances doesn’t have to be a stressful chore. With the right materials and a bit of elbow grease, you can easily and effectively remove oil pastel stains from your home appliances. Try using baking soda and water first, then move onto dish soap and vinegar or rubbing alcohol and cotton balls if necessary.
