Oil pastels are one of the most popular art supplies for creating vibrant works of art. Unfortunately, sometimes accidents happen and before you know it, your Anorak has been splashed with colorful oil pastel pigments.
Luckily, removing oil pastel stains from Anorak is very doable, as long as you act quickly and follow the correct cleaning procedure.
The key to successfully removing oil pastel stains from Anorak is to act quickly. As soon as you notice that oil pastel pigments have been transferred onto the garment, use a clean white cloth or paper towel to blot stained area.
Simply press down firmly on the stained area, making sure that you are not rubbing the fabric in any way. This will help to absorb the excess oil and limit spread of pigment on the fabric.
Once the excess oil has been blotted away, apply a small amount of detergent directly onto stained area. Make sure that you use a mild detergent that is suitable for the specific type of fabric that the Anorak is made from. Let the detergent soak into the fabric for a few minutes.
Using cold water, thoroughly rinse the stained area of the Anorak. Make sure that all of the detergent has been washed away and the fabric looks clean. This should also help to lighten the oil pastel pigment.
You should now put the Anorak in the washing machine and set the machine to a gentle cycle, using the warmest water temperature that is safe for the specific type of fabric. Once the wash cycle is complete, air dry Anorak. If there are still some remaining oil pastel stains, repeat the process.
Finally, check the Anorak to make sure the oil pastel stain has been removed. If stain is still visible, you may need to repeat the cleaning process until the stain is no longer visible.
