What You'll Need

  • A small bowl
  • Cotton balls
  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Dishwashing liquid

Step One: Pre-treating the Stain

Begin by dampening the stained area with warm water and blotting it with a cotton ball. Once you've done this, mix equal parts white vinegar and dishwashing liquid in a bowl, then use a fresh cotton ball to apply the mixture to the stain.

Step Two: Use Baking Soda

Once you've applied the vinegar/dishwashing liquid mixture to the stain, sprinkle baking soda over it. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes, then use a paper towel to blot the area.

Step Three: Rinse & Repeat

If the stain isn't completely gone after your first attempt, repeat steps one and two. If necessary, you can also use a soft-bristled brush to help loosen the stain before applying the vinegar and baking soda.

Step Four: Washing the Dress

Follow care instructions for your wrap dress, as some fabrics may require additional special treatment or dry-cleaning. For most materials, you should be able to put it in the washing machine. Be sure to wash the dress by itself, as the nail polish residue could transfer onto other clothing.

Final Thoughts

While nail polish stains on your wrap dress may seem like a disaster at first, they don't have to be. With a few simple steps you can easily get rid of the stain and have your dress looking as good as new!
