Start by testing the fabric to make sure it can withstand any of cleaning methods listed below. To do this, apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to a hidden area of your clothing, such as an inner seam. If it does not damage or discolor the fabric, you’re ready to proceed.
Using a clean, dry cloth, blot the stain. Move the cloth in circular motions. Doing this helps to pull the nail polish out of the fabric without spreading it further.
If the nail polish has not completely come out of the fabric, use rubbing alcohol to help. Dilute one tablespoon of rubbing alcohol in one cup of water. Using a clean, dry cloth, dab the diluted rubbing alcohol onto stained area until nail polish has been removed.
If the stain remains after using rubbing alcohol, you can try using hairspray. Apply a generous amount of hairspray to the stained area and let it sit for several minutes. Then use a clean, damp cloth to scrub the area. Keep scrubbing until stain has disappeared.
Once the nail polish has been removed, rinse the area with cool water to get rid of any residue that may remain. Then hang your clothing up to dry.
Finally, launder your clothing as you normally would. Make sure to use detergent to ensure that the stain is completely gone.
Accidents happen, but luckily, it’s easy to clean nail polish stains from your workwear. With just a few simple steps, you can have your clothes looking good as new in no time.
