Removing Fresh Nail Polish Stains

The best way to tackle any fresh nail polish stains is to act fast. Begin by using a nail polish remover, such as acetone or a non-acetone version, that does not contain any oils. If you don’t have any remover, then rubbing alcohol will also work just as well. Apply a small amount of whichever remover you are using to the stain and start to dab gently. Make sure to use a clean cloth and continue dabbing until the stain has disappeared.

Dealing with Dried Stains

If the nail polish has already dried, then the process becomes slightly more complicated. Firstly, you will need to take a spoon and gently scrape away as much of dried polish as you can. Next, fill your sink with lukewarm water, add a small amount of neutral liquid soap and stir until the soap has dissolved. Carefully place the stained area of wool item into the soapy water and allow it to soak for up to 15-20 minutes. Once this time has elapsed, remove the garment and dab the area with a clean cloth. Repeat if necessary until the stain has gone.

Keeping Your Wool Sweater Looking its Best

Whilst this method works like a charm, it is important to remember that these cleaning chemicals may damage your garment if used too often. So, to ensure that your wool sweater stays as good as new, we recommend taking caution when using them. Additionally, always follow the instruction on the product labels.
