If you’ve already got an unwelcome splotch of nail polish on a shirt, don’t despair! The first step is to act quickly and handle the stain correctly. Here are some tips for cleaning nail polish stains from your T-shirt:
- Remove excess polish - Start by removing any excess nail polish with a cotton swab. Gently pull swab across the affected area without putting too much pressure on it.
- Pretreat the stain - After removing excess polish, you’ll need to pretreat the stain. You can do this by soaking the stained area in a mixture of cold water and laundry detergent for 30 minutes. This will help to remove some of the stain.
- Launder as normal – After allowing the area to soak for 30 minutes, you can launder the garment as usual. Be sure to use the warmest water setting that is safe for the fabric. Also, be sure to check the garment’s care label for any special instructions.
- Use a special cleaner – If stain remains after laundering, you may want to use a special cleaner designed specifically for removing nail polish stains. Apply the cleaner to the stained area, then let it sit for 10 minutes. Finally, rinse the cleaner off and launder the shirt again.
By following these steps and being patient, you should be able to remove that pesky nail polish stain from your shirt with relative ease.
