As soon as you notice any nail polish spillage onto your trench coat, blot the stain with a clean white cloth. This way, the remaining polish can be absorbed into the cloth without damaging the fabric of the coat.
Mix 1 teaspoon of liquid detergent meant for delicate fabrics, 1 teaspoon of white vinegar, and half a cup of warm water in a bowl. Dip a clean white cloth into the mixture and dab stain with the cloth. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the stain in order to prevent further damage to the coat.
Once the pre-treatment has been applied, rinse the area with cold water. Now, take the coat to a laundry area and machine wash it on a gentle cycle with delicate detergent. Make sure you let the coat air dry after putting it in the machine.
If the nail polish has not been removed completely, you can use a strong spot cleaner to treat the area. Let the cleaner sit on the affected area for 5 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water. Both the stain and the cleaner should disappear after this step.
By following the four steps outlined above, you can easily clean any nail polish stains from your treasured trench coat. Just remember to use a gentle detergent and to always rinse and air dry the coat after each treatment.
