  • Dish soap
  • Old toothbrush
  • Clean white cloth
  • Nail polish remover
  • Enzyme detergent

Steps for Removing Nail Polish Stains

  1. Mix one teaspoon of dish soap in two tablespoons of warm water. Most dish soaps are gentle enough to be used on delicate fabrics.
  2. Prepare area by lightly dampening stained area with solution. Make sure fabric is saturated, but not dripping wet. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Using an old toothbrush, gently scrub the stained area with small circular motions. Work the soap into a lather, then rinse with cold water.
  4. Spot treat remaining stains with 1–2 drops of non-acetone nail polish remover. Use a clean white cloth to scrub into the fabric. Repeat if necessary.
  5. After scraping off any excess nail polish, soak fabric in enzyme detergent. This will break down the stain molecules and keep it from setting.
  6. Finally, launder fabric as usual. Hang to dry in shady area and repeat steps if necessary.
