1. As soon as possible, spray a small amount of hairspray directly onto the nail polish stain. Allow the hairspray to sit on the tie for a few minutes before blotting it with a dry cloth.
2. If the nail polish stain is still there, mix two teaspoons of non-bleach laundry detergent with two cups of warm water. Dip a cloth into detergent solution and gently dab stain.
3. Rinse the tie off with cool water and gently blot it with a paper towel. Allow it to air dry.
4. If the stain is still there, dampen a cloth with nail polish remover and gently dab the stain. Make sure to use a non-acetone nail polish remover to avoid damaging the tie.
5. Rinse off the tie with cool water and blot it with a paper towel. Allow it to air dry completely.
1. Put on your tie before applying nail polish. This will help keep your necktie clean.
2. When putting on your tie, avoid tugging at fabric too much. Be gentle.
3. If you are getting your nails done professionally, request that they put plastic coverings over your tie to protect it from getting any nail polish on it.
