Having a swimming pool provides hours of fun for everyone in the household, and swimming pool liners can add an extra layer of beauty, safety and temperature control. Unfortunately, accidental spills of nail polish, or even intentional painting of nails near the pool, can lead to unattractive nail polish stains.

Step 1: Spot Test

Before beginning any kind of nail polish stain removal process, it's important to do a small-scale spot test to make sure that the cleaning product won't adversely affect the pool liner material.

Spot testing is simple: simply dampen a cotton swab with the cleaning product, then apply a small amount to an inconspicuous (but affected) area of the pool liner. Allow to sit for the recommended time, then wipe off with a damp cloth. If no discoloration occurs, move on to the larger area.

Step 2: Apply Cleaner

Once spot-testing is complete, apply the cleaner to the stained area. Follow the directions for application on the bottle and allow it to soak for the recommended time. Dab the area gently with a soft cloth before moving on to the next step.

Step 3: Rinse & Repeat

Once cleaner has done its job and stain is gone, rinse off the cleaner with clean water. Use a hose if available and make sure to rinse thoroughly to avoid any damage to the pool liner.

If the stain is persistent, repeat steps 1 – 3 until the nail polish is completely removed.
