Step 1: Act Quickly

The first step is to act quickly; sooner you can take action, better. If the nail polish is still wet, try to remove as much of it as possible with a paper towel or napkin. Be sure to dab at the affected area gently, as rubbing too rough can make stain worse.

Step 2: Rinse the Stain

Once you have either dabbed or brushed off as much of the nail polish as possible, rinse the stained area with cool water. Doing this will prevent the nail polish from setting in.

Step 3: Soak the Stained Area

Soak the stained area in a sink filled with cold water and a tablespoon of liquid detergent. Let stocking soak for about 10 minutes and then gently rub stained area between two fingers.

Step 4: Rinse Stocking Again

After rubbing the stained area, rinse it thoroughly with cold water. Be sure to thoroughly rinse any soap residue, as detergent can be damaging to delicate fabrics.

Step 5: Treat the Stained Area

Mix equal parts of white vinegar and cold water in a bowl and dip the stained area into the mixture for 5 minutes. This will help lift the stain from the fabric. After that, rinse stocking again with cold water.

Step 6: Air-Dry the Stocking

Finally, hang the stocking up to air-dry. The nail polish stain should now be gone!
