The first step to removing nail polish from your sports bra is to identify what kind of nail polish stain it is. If it's a water-based nail polish, you can treat it like any other stain. However, if it's a standard oil-based polish, then you'll need to use a more specific cleaning method.
Once you know what kind of nail polish stain you're dealing with, it's time to pre-treat. For water-based nail polish, you can use rubbing alcohol or an enzyme-based pre-treatment spray. For oil-based polish, you'll need a powerful solvent, such as acetone, or an enzyme-based pre-treatment spray.
Once you've pre-treated the nail polish stains, you can wash the sports bra following the instructions on the tag. Be sure to use cold water, as hot water can set the stains. Additionally, you'll want to use a gentle detergent, as harsh detergents can also cause the stains to set.
Once you've washed the bra, you'll need to air dry it. Heat from dryer can set the stains, so hang your sports bra up to dry in a well-ventilated area.
Once your sports bra is dry, you'll need to inspect the stains. If the stains are still present, you may need to use a stain remover specifically designed for nail polish removal, or you may need to repeat the pre-treatment and washing steps.
Finally, after the stains are gone, you'll need to make sure the color of the sports bra stays vibrant. To do this, use a color-safe fabric softener when washing the bra to help retain colors.
