If the nail polish has not dried yet, act quickly! Before nail polish has a chance to dry, use a cotton swab or some cotton balls dipped in rubbing alcohol to dab gently at the stained area. Use a fresh portion of cotton swab/cotton ball for each dab for maximum effect.
If the nail polish stain has already dried, it's time to bring out the heavy artillery. Mix together one tablespoon of detergent, one tablespoon of ammonia, and one quart of warm water. Soak your sleep shirt with stained area immersed in mixture for an hour. Then, wash it as you normally would in the washing machine.
If the two previous steps don't work, apply oxygen bleach to stained area. Mix 1/4 cup of oxygen bleach with one quart of warm water in a spray bottle and spray stained area generously. Leave it to sit until the color fades, then rinse it off with cold water. Finally, put your sleep shirt through the regular wash cycle.
Getting nail polish on your sleep shirt can be a hassle, but with these three simple steps you can easily restore your sleep shirt and get back to enjoying snuggly nights in. Now you know how to rescue your sleep shirt from nail polish stains!
