Removing the Stain with Detergent
- First, you'll need to soak up as much of the excess nail polish as possible. If the nail polish is still wet, you can use a paper towel or a cloth to blot the area.
- Create a mixture of one part liquid dish soap and one part white vinegar. This will help to break up the nail polish.
- Using cold water, dampen the stained areas. Rub the soapy solution into the stain with a soft sponge or cloth.
- Again, use cold water to rinse the area. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 if necessary and blot dry with a clean towel.
- Once stain has been removed, you'll want to launder the sleep pants using your normal detergent and the coldest recommended water temperature.
Removing the Stain with Nail Polish Remover
- Start by absorbing any excess nail polish with a paper towel or soft cloth.
- Place a small amount of non-acetone nail polish remover on a clean cloth. Test the nail polish remover on an inconspicuous part of the sleep pants to ensure that it does not discolor or damage the fabric.
- Gently dab the stain with the cloth saturated in the remover. Don't rub, as this could spread the stain and make it worse.
- Rinse the area with cold water, then launder the pants normally with cold water and detergent. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 as needed.
Preventing Future Stains
- If possible, try to apply any nail polish away from clothing - either in a well-ventilated area or outside.
- Having a dedicated pair of pants for manicure sessions can also help to minimize the risk of spills and stains.
- If you do splash your clothes with nail polish, act quickly. The sooner you can address a spill, better your chances of removing it completely.
