What You'll Need
- Cotton cloth (white)
- Dry cleaning solvent, if available
- Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl)
- Hair dryer
Steps for Removing Nail Polish Stains from Silk Organza
- Clean up excess nail polish. Use a cotton cloth to soak up any excess nail polish on the silk organza. Do not scrub, as this could spread the stains and make it harder to remove.
- Apply dry cleaning solvent. If you have access to dry cleaning solvent, apply it directly to the stain, using a clean cotton cloth. Leave it on the fabric for several minutes and then pat dry.
- Use rubbing alcohol. Dip a cotton cloth into rubbing alcohol and gently dab at the stain. Do not scrub or rub the fabric; simply blot until the nail polish is absorbed into cloth.
- Blow dry. Heat the fabric by using a hairdryer on a low setting. This will help to set the stain and make it easier to remove.
- Wash the silk organza. Wash the fabric in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Do not use hot water or harsh detergents that may damage the silk organza.
Additional Tips
- If the stain persists, repeat the above steps until the nail polish is completely removed.
- It is always best to test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous part of the fabric first.
- If the stain has already dried, try using an adhesive remover before attempting to remove it with rubbing alcohol.
