Don’t be too hard on yourself if you have a nail polish stain on a silk piece of clothing. With the right cleaner, it’s possible to get rid of those pesky stains with no problem.

Here’s what you need to remove nail polish from silk:

  • White vinegar
  • Clean cloth
  • Dry cleaning solvent

Steps:

  1. Start by mopping up as much of the nail polish as possible with a clean cloth.
  2. Mix one part white vinegar with two parts water and submerge the affected area in the solution.
  3. Soak the fabric in the solution for 30 minutes and then rinse in cold water.
  4. If you can still see stain, apply a small amount of dry cleaning solvent and dab it with a clean cloth.
  5. Once the stain has been removed, wash the article of clothing according to care instructions.
