What You’ll Need
- Pure acetone (nail polish remover with acetone)
- Cotton pads
- Soft white cloth
- Freshwater
- Laundry detergent
Instructions
- If the stain is resistant and has been on the garment for some time, start by applying small amounts of pure acetone to a cotton pad and gently dab it over the stain. Be careful not to rub the fabric as it could further damage fibers.
- Once the nail polish has been dissolved, rinse off the area with cold water.
- If the stain persists, use a soft white cloth and a few drops of laundry detergent designed for delicates to gently scrub the area.
- Rinse the area well with fresh water and dry with a clean cloth.
- If stain does not come out upon first attempt, repeat steps 1-4 again.
Additional Tips
- Always test any cleaning procedure on an inconspicuous area of the garment to ensure that it won’t affect the colour or texture.
- Be sure to use pure acetone as opposed to nail polish remover. While nail polish remover is typically weaker in formulation, pure acetone is much more effective.
