What You’ll Need

  • Cotton swabs
  • Cotton ball
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Warm water
  • Mild soap

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Test an inconspicuous area of the fabric to make sure the rubbing alcohol won’t cause discoloration or fading.
  2. Use the cotton swab to remove as much of nail polish from the fabric as possible.
  3. Dip a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol and dab the area to dissolve any residue, then wipe the area with a damp cloth.
  4. Soak the stained area in warm water and mild soap for 20 minutes.
  5. Rinse area with clear water and gently scrub with a soft cloth.
  6. Repeat these steps until the stain is gone.
  7. Air dry the fabric before machine washing.

Prevention Tips

  • Keep a towel or cloth on hand when painting your nails– this will help absorb any nail polish that may be spilled.
  • Apply nail polish in a well-ventilated area; this will reduce the risk of accidental spills.
  • Wear an old shirt or apron when applying nail polish to protect your clothing.
