What You'll Need:

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap
  • Water
  • Cotton balls

Instructions:

  1. Create a paste with equal parts of baking soda and white vinegar.
  2. Apply some of the paste directly onto the stain.
  3. Let the paste sit for 15 minutes, allowing it to break down the nail polish.
  4. Using a warm, wet cloth, wipe away the paste and nail polish.
  5. If the stain still remains, apply some dish soap directly to area and gently rub it in.
  6. Using warm water, rinse away soap and the remaining stain.
  7. Let the scarf air dry.

Additional Tips

  • Treat stain as soon as possible, as the longer it sits on the fabric, the more difficult it will be to remove.
  • If the above steps are not enough to remove stain, try using a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Test the rubbing alcohol on an inconspicuous part of the fabric first before applying directly to the stain.
  • It is best to hand wash a scarf with nail polish stains rather than run it through a washing machine. This will help to prevent spreading the stain to other items.
