Using a clean cloth or paper towel, carefully blot away as much of nail polish as possible. Blotting will help to remove any excess nail polish from the fabric before attempting to clean it. Do not rub cloth against the fabric as this may cause the nail polish to spread even further.
Mix one part mild detergent with two parts warm water. Then dip a cleaning cloth into the mixture and gently rub it onto the stained area until the nail polish has dissolved. Rinse the cloth as needed, and apply more detergent if necessary. When the stain has disappeared, rinse fabric with cold water.
If the detergent solution fails to remove stain, try applying a solution of equal parts vinegar and lukewarm water. Apply mixture directly onto the stain and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Then dab the area with a clean cloth until the stain disappears. Rinse the fabric with cold water.
If the vinegar solution fails to work, try using hydrogen peroxide on the stain. Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with four parts water and apply the mixture directly onto the stain. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with cold water. Repeat this process if necessary.
Another effective way to remove a nail polish stain from a sari is to apply turmeric powder. Simply mix equal parts turmeric powder and salt with enough water to make a paste. Apply paste onto the stain and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Then rinse the fabric with cold water.
Finally, if all else fails, try using olive oil on the stain. Gently rub some olive oil onto the stain and let it sit for 30-60 minutes. Then rinse fabric with cold water. Repeat if necessary.
Removing a nail polish stain from a sari can be challenging, but with these simple steps you can get rid of stain quickly and easily!
