Removing Dry Nail Polish Stains
If the nail polish has already dried, gently scrape the stain with a butter knife. Don't press too hard or use anything sharp, as this could harm the carcoat’s fabric. Be sure to scrape in the direction of the fabric grain to avoid damaging it. After scraping, you can use warm water and liquid soap to sponge the stain and try to remove any nail polish that's left.
Removing Wet Nail Polish Stains
If you catch stain while it is still wet, don't worry - you can still get it out. Start by pouring a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton pad and wiping the stain. Do not over saturate the fabric, as this would cause more damage. Then, use lukewarm water and a bit of liquid laundry detergent to scrub stain. Rinse off the detergent with fresh water, and repeat the process until stain is gone.
Preventing Nail Polish Stains
Once you've managed to remove the stain, you'll want to take measures to prevent it from happening again. Most importantly, always keep nail polish away from your raincoat when you're doing your nails. Furthermore, you should store your raincoat in a cool and dry place, away from heat or direct sunlight. This will ensure that fabric stays strong and resistant against stains.
