How to Get Nail Polish Out of a Polo Shirt

Having a nail polish stain on your favorite polo shirt can be frustrating, but it's not the end of world. With some creativity and a few simple items, removing nail polish from a polo shirt is quite easy.

Materials Needed

  • Cotton swab
  • Rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Cotton balls
  • Soft-bristled brush
  • Laundry detergent

Removing the Stain

  1. Scrape off the excess nail polish with the cotton swab.
  2. Using rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover, soak a cotton ball and dab it onto the stained area.
  3. Work the hydrogen peroxide into the stained area with a soft-bristled brush.
  4. Let the solution sit on the stain for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Wash the garment in washing machine with laundry detergent.

Tips and Warnings

  • Always test cleaning products on a small inconspicuous area of the garment before using them on the entire stain.
  • Do not use an iron or blow dryer on the garment until the nail polish stain has been completely removed.
  • Do not put the garment in dryer before ensuring the stain has been removed.
