Using a white cloth or paper towel, blot the stained area to absorb as much of the excess nail polish as possible. Do not rub the stain as this can spread the polish and make it harder to remove.
Use a cotton swab to apply dry cleaning solvent directly to stain. Be sure not to saturate the area. The solvent should be used sparingly and in small amounts.
Dip a clean white cloth into a bucket of cold water and rinse the affected area. Be sure to rinse the solvent away completely.
Mix a few drops of mild soap with a cup of cold water and use a clean cloth to wash the stained area. Blot the area with a dry cloth to absorb any remaining soap and water.
Mix 1 tablespoon of borax with one cup of cold water and apply directly to the stain. Let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
Mix one part vinegar with two parts water and apply directly to the stain. Allow solution to sit for five minutes and then blot with a clean cloth.
Fill a bucket with cold water and add a few drops of mild soap. Dip a clean cloth into the bucket and use it to wash area one last time. Rinse with cold water and blot dry.
