Method 1: Use Detergent and Rubbing Alcohol

Mix equal parts detergent and rubbing alcohol together in a small bowl to create a paste. Dip a clean cloth in the mixture and gently rub it over the stain, then rinse the area with cold water. Repeat the process as necessary.

Method 2: Acetone

Dip a cotton ball into acetone and begin blotting stain. Continue this until the stain starts to fade away. Rinse the fabric with cold water afterwards.

Method 3: Oxygen-Based Bleach

If all else fails, mix some oxygen-based bleach with warm water and let the swimsuit soak for an hour or two. Then, rinse the area with cold water and check for any remaining stain. If necessary, repeat process.

Tips For Removing Nail Polish Stains

  • Be sure to test cleaning solutions on a small, discrete area before using them on the stained area.
  • If the stain persists, try soaking swimsuit in a mix of warm water and enzyme laundry detergent prior to trying any of the other methods outlined.
  • Even after stain has been removed, be sure to rinse the area thoroughly.
