Whether you accidentally dropped a bottle of nail polish on your maxi dress or got some on it while applying it, first step is to act quickly. The sooner you treat stain, the better chance you will have of getting it out.

What You Need

  • An old toothbrush
  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Baking soda
  • Clean, white cloth

Steps to Take

  1. Start by scraping off as much of the nail polish as possible with an old toothbrush. Make sure that you are gentle so you don’t cause any damage to the fabric.
  2. Make a mixture of dish soap and white vinegar that is equal parts of both ingredients. Dip a clean, white cloth in the mixture and gently blot the stained area until nail polish has been removed.
  3. If the above method doesn’t work, then use rubbing alcohol on the stain. Again, make sure to use a clean, white cloth and blot the area gently until stain disappears.
  4. As a final attempt, sprinkle baking soda over stain. Let it sit for a few hours and then vacuum it off.

Once you have removed the nail polish stain from your maxi dress, make sure to hang it up to dry in a well-ventilated area. This will help ensure that the stain does not set in fabric.
